By dividing SPAID into its component clinical signs, we were able to see that the highest peak of association for both fever and arthritis (27.5–29 Mb) was in strong, but not perfect LD with the peak containing HAS2 (24 Mb, r2 = 0.6–0.8, Figure 2A and 2B). This evidence concerns the gene HAS2 and arthritic joint disease.
