In accordance with current practice guidelines on hyperkalemia [18], prescriptions for potassium chloride (PCI = 0.624) and spironolactone (PCI = 0.665) were discontinued after hyperkalemia occurred, whereas prescriptions for calcium gluconate (PCI = 1.658), insulin (PCI = 2.173), and sodium polystyrene sulfonate (PCI = 4.754) increased; prescriptions for amlodipine (PCI = 0.933) and hydrochlorothiazide (PCI = 0.958) were maintained as expected.
