More recently, it was further demonstrated that ALOX5 is required for the induction of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) by BCR-ABL, and a specific ALOX5 inhibitor is able to significantly delay CML onset when used either alone or in combination with the BCR-ABL kinase inhibitor imatinib [29].
