Previously, we reported that combined therapy with taurine, EGCG and genistein had an obvious protective effect against alcohol-induced liver fibrosis in rats by suppressing the serum levels of fibrosis markers and hepatic hydroxyproline content, as well as inhibiting hepatic collagen deposition and protein expression of B-cell lymphoma 2, α-smooth muscle actin, TGF-β1, and others against decapentaplegic homolog 3 (SMAD-3) [16]. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is Hepatic fibrosis.
