Within the PAH group, a positive correlation was seen with brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) (Pearson r = 0.75, p = 0.01), and a negative correlation with central venous oxygen saturations (SvO2) (r = −0.83, p = 0.02), which are markers of poor cardiac function and cardiac output respectively. The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is pulmonary arterial hypertension.
