In agreement with the known role of the JNK pathway in cisplatin effects (Brozovic & Osmak, 2007), we found that the JNK chemical inhibitor SP600125 impaired the enhanced apoptosis observed in cisplatin-treated cancer cells when p38 MAPK was inhibited, as determined by the reduced levels of caspase-cleaved poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (p85PARP) (Fig 1E).
