A distinct miRNA profiling was shown in the paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer, and particularly down-regulation of miR-130a was associated with the translational activation of the macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) gene, a known resistance factor for ovarian cancer [100], possibly owing to the role of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in the CSF-1-mediated effect on tumour progression [101].
