The Bik gene has been associated with tumor reversion in different cell lines and was proposed as therapeutic for inducing apoptosis in cancer, including breast tumors (6,9,18); however, our group and others have obtained high BIK levels in breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and lymphoblastoid cell lines derived from patients with Fanconi anemia (19,20). The gene discussed is BIK; the disease is neoplasm.
