A link between HMGB3 and the invasive, metastatic phenotype has been made by demonstrating that HMGB3 mRNA levels are increased in metastatic breast cancers (Figure 5A), that knockdown of HMGB3 decreases in vitro invasiveness (Figure 4B) and patients with increased HMGB3 expression have poor survival (Figure 5E). This evidence concerns the gene HMGB3 and breast carcinoma.
