The purported tumor suppressive functions of miR-205 in breast cancer is due to direct targeting of several oncogenes such as VEGFA, E2F1, E2F5, PKC epsilon and HER3 reviewed in 16 as well as attenuating epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) by suppressing ZEB1 and ZEB2 [16-18]. The gene discussed is ZEB1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
