We also found strong allele frequency differences between ethnic groups in the rs3211938 (CD36, under recent positive selection in Ghana [24]), rs2243250 and rs2243251 (IL4, associated with malaria susceptibility [25],; observed previously in the Gambia and other West African populations [26]), rs542998 (RTN3) and rs10775349 (ADCY9) (both identified in a recent Tanzanian case-control study [27]). This evidence concerns the gene CD36 and malaria.
