The type of immune response occurring in the skin infection site was investigated by measuring the transcript level of IFN-γ (a typical Th1 cytokine), IL-4 (a Th2 cytokine), IL-5 (a Th2 cytokine which promotes eosinophil proliferation and survival [34]), IL-10 and galectin-14 (a molecule specific to eosinophils [35]) (Fig. 4A–E). Here, IL4 is linked to skin infection.
