Since the mutations of BRAF and KRAS genes, which lead to the activation of MEK/ERK pathway, are seen as important events in the tumor progression and based on their relatively high incidence (7-15% for BRAF mutations and 35-40% for KRAS mutations [5-8]), they have been proposed as prognostic biomarkers for CRC. This evidence concerns the gene KRAS and colorectal carcinoma.
