Increased expression of a number of glycolytic enzymes has been associated with carcinogenic phenotype (reviewed in 8,19,20), including: pyruvate kinase (especially M2 tumor-specific isoform, but also M1 (PKM1, PKM2 [19,21])), Hexokinase (especially isoform 2, but also 1(HK1, HK2 [22,23])), and Phosphofructokinase (PFK [8]). The gene discussed is PKM; the disease is neoplasm.
