Several meta-analyses have linked carriage of the minor ‘A’ allele of the G/A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the -238 position (rs361525, global minor allele frequency 5% in 1000 Genomes dataset) of the TNF promoter with increased susceptibility to musculoskeletal diseases, including Behçets disease [10], systemic lupus erythematosus [11], juvenile idiopathic arthritis [12], and psoriatic arthritis [13]. Here, TNF is linked to juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
