It has been shown that gene polymorphisms of several inflammatory factors, such as interleukin (IL)-1β [15], tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and IL-10 [16], affect levels of protein expression and are associated with an enhanced risk of developing hypochlorhydria, gastric atrophy, and gastric adenocarcinoma related to H. pylori. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is chronic atrophic gastritis.
