Likewise, on chromosome band 16p11, the FUS gene was found to be rearranged and fused to ERG in a subset of AML with t(16;21)(p11;q22) (1,2), and on 16q24, the CBFA2T3 gene was found, also in AML, to be a partner gene in the fusions RUNX1-CBFA2T3 [t(16;21)(q24;q22)], NFIA-CBFA2T3 [t(1;16)(p31;q24)], and CBFA2T3-GLIS2 [inv(16)(p13q24)] (22,23,29,30). This evidence concerns the gene CBFA2T3 and acute myeloid leukemia.
