Expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-10, IL-4, IFN-γ, and TGF-β, was significantly increased in the peripheral γδ T cells from SLE patients, suggesting that there could be different subsets of γδ T cells functioning in the pathogenesis of SLE. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
