To this end, many tumor types epigenetically suppress CIITA expression by mechanisms including histone deacetylation/methylation and DNA promoter methylation, resulting in suppressed IFN-γ mediated MHC-I and MHC-II gene expression and dysfunctional antigen presentation (Morris et al., 2000; Kanaseki et al., 2003; Morimoto et al., 2004; Satoh et al., 2004; Chou, 2005; Holling et al., 2007; Radosevich et al., 2007; Meissner et al., 2008; Londhe et al., 2012; Truax et al., 2012; Figure 1). This evidence concerns the gene CIITA and neoplasm.
