As VEGFA is thought to work primarily through activation of one of the known VEGF receptors VEGFR1, VEGFR2 and co-receptor Neuropilin1, in general two cell lines per tumor type were selected from the NCI-60 panel of solid tumors (NSCLC: H522, HOP62, CRC: HCT-116, HT-29, KM12, BC: HS-578 T, MDA-MB-231 and one RCC: A498), according to high relative expression levels from publicly available microarray data[26], published data and our own preliminary gene expression data related to angiogenesis pathway genes. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
