Here, we examined in a Ghanaian population three elsewhere well-established and reproducibly associated type 2 diabetes variants, namely polymorphisms of transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2), potassium inwardly-rectifying channel J11 (KCNJ11), and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) (reviewed by [7]). The gene discussed is KCNJ11; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
