The serum levels of acute-phase proteins, such as orosomucoid 1 (α1-acid glycoprotein), C-reactive protein, haptoglobin, and the serine protease inhibitor clade A (α1-antitrypsin), were higher in the RA patients than in the normal controls, and tocilizumab treatment decreased the concentrations of these proteins. The gene discussed is HP; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
