Foxp3 plays an essential role in the suppressive function of Tregs, and Foxp3 deficiency causes a multi-organ autoimmune disease, which can be observed in the scurfy mouse and in patients with immunodysregulation polyendocrinopathy enteropathy X-linked syndrome (IPEX) [1,2]. This evidence concerns the gene FOXP3 and immune dysregulation-polyendocrinopathy-enteropathy-X-linked syndrome.
