Subsequently, in a prospective observational study conducted in Kampala (Uganda), Meya and coworkers showed that CrAg testing targeting people with severe immunodeficiency (less than 100 CD4+ cell/μL) was a cost-effective measure showing 71% survival at 30-month of those treated with fluconazole together with HAART compared with 100% deaths within 2 months in those treated only with HAART [110]. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and immune system disorder.
