In order to test whether changes seen in inflammatory cell populations using the mouse model of high fat diet induced steatosis were corroborated in human samples with NAFLD, frozen liver sections were obtained from patients with and without steatosis and stained for inflammatory cell markers CD45, CD68, CD3e, CD8 and CD56 as shown in Figure 6. This evidence concerns the gene NCAM1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
