Although a growing body of evidence revealed CREG as an inhibitory factor to the proliferation of undifferentiated tissues and cells [3,7], a recent study found that CREG was highly expressed in gastric cancer (GC) tissues, and downregulation of CREG expression inhibited the growth of GC cells [21], indicating that CREG exerted a pro-proliferative effect on GC cells. Here, CREG1 is linked to gastric cancer.
