Together these results suggest that stromal host MMP13 depletion alters both collagen I macrostructural (i.e. fiber arrangement, ordering, and orientation; Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5), and molecular (fibril) microstructural properties (as quantified by collagen I normalized BSHG and FSHG/BSHG; Figure 6) at the tumor periphery. The gene discussed is MMP13; the disease is neoplasm.
