Wang et al analyzed APOE gene polymorphisms in 62 subjects with carotid artery stenosis confirmed by angiography and in 71 healthy subjects, and his results suggested that APOE gene polymorphism is correlated with carotid artery stenosis and changes of lipoproteins, and that the gene encoding ε4 is a risk factor for atherosclerosis formation (21). Here, APOE is linked to atherosclerosis.
