HIF1A and colonic neoplasm: Development of such HIF-specific therapies would undoubtedly prove beneficial for the optimal inhibition of tumorigenesis in a number of cancers as HIF2 function has been shown to be required for the development of hepatic and renal tumors in mouse models [44–46], but inhibit lung cancer growth [47], while HIF1 has been shown to inhibit growth of renal tumors [48], but to promote tumorigenesis of colon cancers [49].
