Regarding HRV-induced asthma mouse models, three novel mouse models of HRV infection have been recently developed: infection with a minor-group HRV (the receptor is the low-density lipoprotein receptor family) in BALB/c mice, infection with a major-group HRV in transgenic BALB/c expressing a mouse-human ICAM-1 chimera, and HRV-induced exacerbation of allergic airway inflammation (Bartlett et al., 2008). This evidence concerns the gene LDLR and infection.
