IL1B and familial Mediterranean fever: To the best of our knowledge, only 4 FMF patients have been treated with canakinumab in the last two years, leading in all cases to a prompt and full resolution of clinical phenotype, corroborating the concepts about efficacy of anti-IL-1 inhibition in FMF patients and suggesting that canakinumab should be considered as a potent alternative option for refractory colchicine-resistant FMF [56, 67, 68].
