These data suggest that teratoma susceptibility mediated by Tfap2c in 129S2/Sv genetic background is at least in part due to reduction of Nanos3. However, tumor incidence in Nanos3 heterozygous mice was lower and tumor progression was slower compared to Tfap2c heterozygous animals, arguing for additional targets of TFAP2C involved in GCC pathogenesis. The gene discussed is NANOS3; the disease is teratoma.
