Therefore, given the decreased ratio of ac-KIGS:12E8 in AD patients (Fig. 6E), and our demonstration that the ratio of ac-KIGS:12E8 is significantly increased in the brain of mice treated with an HDAC6 inhibitor (Fig. 4I; Supplementary Material, Fig. S7E), inhibition of HDAC6 is a promising approach to restore the ac-KIGS:12E8 ratio in disease and alleviate tau burden.
