The contrasting effect on survival of tumour BCL2 expression in breast cancer as opposed to non-Hodgkin lymphoma may well be due to the importance of the careful equilibrium between tumour BCL2 protein expression and other pro-apoptotic members such as Bax, rather than on BCL2 tumour protein quantity alone (Reed 1997) (Cory et al. 2003).
