Current studies have been demonstrated that the development of pancreatitis is associated with expression of proinflammatory cytokine within the pancreas, increasing as pancreatitis severity increases, and the expression of IL-1β, and TNF-alpha mRNA concurs with the development of histologic lesions in pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia [21, 22]. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is pancreatitis.
