The regulation of FOXO1 was further corroborated in an external dataset of 110 PCa patients and 28 non-malignant benign prostate tissue samples [34], were miR-96 expression inversely correlates to the expression of FOXO1 in the prostate cancer tissue samples (p=0.0193, Spearman, r=-2228) and in the non-malignant tissue samples (p=0.0029, Spearman, r=-0.5424) separately, as well as when all samples are combined (p=0.0013, Spearman, r=-0.2717) (Figure 6).
