Interestingly, we recently discovered that dovitinib (formerly TKI258), a novel multi-kinase inhibitor that targets VEGFR1-3, PDGFR-β and FGFR1-3, as well as FLT-3, c-KIT, Ret, TrkA and csf-1 [35], could also induce apoptosis and overcome sorafenib resistance through SHP-1-mediated p-STAT3 inhibition in hepatocellular carcinoma cells [36,37]. This evidence concerns the gene RET and hepatocellular carcinoma.
