Our study for the first time found that CCN2, as well as its downstream signaling pathway genes including p38 MAPK and PI3K, was lower in sclera tissue in guinea pigs but increased after white flashing light exposure and significantly increased under red flashing light exposure, suggesting that CCN2 might play an important role in sclera remodeling in the development of myopia. This evidence concerns the gene CCN2 and myopia.
