Indeed, upregulated KIAA1199 transcription in human renal cell carcinoma cells [48] and cultured myotubes [49] is associated with cellular or gene-expression features of cell mortality/senescence or apoptosis, and these findings are consistent with the diminished proliferation, cloning efficiency, and invasiveness we observed in SW480 clones that constitutively express KIAA1199. The gene discussed is CEMIP; the disease is renal cell carcinoma.
