Tumor selectivity of Curcumin and its derivatives has been already attributed to different mechanisms, such as lower drug uptake in healthy cells,54 rather than increased sensitivity of cancer cells due to lower glutathione levels or constitutive expression of NF-kB.55 Taking into account that tumor cells have normally higher expression of TOP2A compared with normal cells, our data suggest that one of the molecular basis for bDMC cancer cell selectivity and susceptibility could be dependent on the levels of TOP2A target protein. This evidence concerns the gene TOP2A and cancer.
