The presence of vitamin D response elements (VDREs) within the TERE1 promoter [50], and the previously established inhibitory effects of 1,25-(dihydroxy)-vitamin D3 on LnCaP cell growth [51, 52] led us to examine the inducibility of endogenous TERE1 expression and the resultant effects on cholesterol in LnCaP prostate cancer cell clones (Fig. 6).
