BDNF and anxiety disorder: Given the high level of comorbidity between depressive and anxiety disorders, and the similarities in their pathophysiology (Kendler et al., 1992, 1995; Klaassen et al., 1998; Maron et al., 2004; David et al., 2009), it is plausible that BDNF levels in anxiety disorders may mirror the changes found in depression and potentially serve as a peripheral biomarker.
