NF1 and neoplasm: FMGCs are also seen in other soft tissue tumors “not” associated with NF1: the presence of FMGCs in these neoplasms support the hypothesis that FMGCs are not specific to neurofibromas or to hyperplastic lesions associated with NF1 but, instead, represent non-neoplastic supporting cells in some tumors and true neoplastic cells in other tumors [15].
