Our data show that p-Akt is moderately to highly expressed in 17 of 24 (71%) of DCIS cases, and that five of five (100%) recurrent cases had a high percentage expression of p-Akt; and finally, among cases with the highest nuclear grade, p-Akt was moderately to highly expressed in all cases, providing further support for its role in disease progression. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and ductal breast carcinoma in situ.
