Previously, accumulating evidences revealed that the expression of survivin was invariably up-regulated in human cancers, associated with the resistance to radiation or chemotherapy therapy, and poor prognosis [19-23].As to PCa, several studies identified that the survivin, though not normally expressed in the normal tissue and secretory epithelial cells of the prostate [24], was strongly expressed in PCa tissues and PCa cell lines at the level of RNA or protein [25-29]. The gene discussed is BIRC5; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
