As our previous studies have shown that IL-10 was associated with T cell apoptosis [13] and many other studies have shown that serum IL-10, IFNγ and MIF levels were higher in patients with severe dengue we proceeded to investigate the use of these cytokines as potential biomarkers to predict those who are likely to develop severe disease in a large cohort of infected adult individuals. This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and dengue disease.
