Corona et al. (2011) found that dietary supplementation of carnosine reduces hippocampal intraneuronal accumulation of Aβ and rescues mitochondrial dysfunctions in triple-transgenic AD mice (3 × Tg-AD) but does not affect the development of the tau pathology and only slightly reduces cognitive deficits (Corona et al., 2011). The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
