SMARCB1 and cancer: It has been shown that mutations at and/or silencing of chromatin remodeler subunits, such as the BRG1 [also known as SMARCA4 (SWI/SNF-related, matrix-associated, actin-dependent regulator of chromatin, subfamily A, type 4)], the BRM [also known as SMARCA2 (SWI/SNF-related, matrix-associated, actin-dependent regulator of chromatin, subfamily A, type 2)] and the and SNF5 [also known as SMARCB1 (SWI/SNF-related, matrix-associated, actin-dependent regulator of chromatin, subfamily B, type 1)] subunits of the SWI/SNF complex [37] and the CHD complex [38], are present in diverse types of cancer.
