Since GSK3β demonstrates a preference for pre-phosphorylated (primed) substrates by recognising the consensus sequence S/T-X-X-X-Phospho-S/T [10], [11] and EZH2 contains the putative GSK-3β phosphorylation motif ADHWDSKNVSCKNC (591), EZH2 may be a candidate substrate of GSK3β, and GSK3β inactivation may lead to excessive EZH2 expression in NPC. The gene discussed is EZH2; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
