The results of high positive expression rate of CSCs related proteins in ovarian metastatic tissues of gastric cancer, and the big difference of mOS between patients with positive and negative expression of some CSCs related molecules (CD44, CD133, or SOX2) suggested the existence of CSCs in gastric cancer and that some CSCs markers or related proteins might serve as prognostic factors and help to select patients who might get benefit from surgical treatment in the future. The gene discussed is SOX2; the disease is gastric cancer.
