Kornelisse et al. [23] observed that IFN-γ was significantly higher in patients with PM than in children with meningitis caused by H. influenza or N. meningitidis and obtained data suggesting that the production of IFN-γ in the CSF from patients with bacterial meningitis is induced by IL-12, with TNF-α as a co-stimulator. Here, TNF is linked to infectious meningitis.
